Any camera decision will naturally be influenced heavily by the price. The listed launch prices provide an indication of the market segment that the manufacturer of the cameras have been targeting. The V1 was launched at a lower price than the X2D 100C, despite having a lens built in. Usually, retail prices stay at first close to the launch price, but after several months, discounts become available. Of the two cameras under consideration, the Canon V1 features an APS-C sensor and the Hasselblad X2D 100C a medium format sensor. The sensor area in the X2D 100C is 538 percent bigger. As a result of these sensor size differences, the cameras have a format factor of, respectively, 1.6 and 0.79. The sensor in the V1 has a native 3:2 aspect ratio, while the one in the X2D 100C offers a 4:3 aspect.

With 102.1MP, the X2D 100C offers a higher resolution than the V1 (22.1MP), but the X2D 100C nevertheless has larger individual pixels (pixel pitch of 3.76μm versus 3.20μm for the V1) due to its larger sensor. The resolution advantage of the Hasselblad X2D 100C implies greater flexibility for cropping images or the possibility to print larger pictures. The maximum print size of the X2D 100C for good quality output (200 dots per inch) amounts to 58.3 x 43.8 inches or 148 x 111.3 cm, for very good quality (250 dpi) 46.6 x 35 inches or 118.4 x 89 cm, and for excellent quality (300 dpi) 38.9 x 29.2 inches or 98.7 x 74.2 cm. The corresponding values for the Canon V1 are 28.8 x 19.2 inches or 73 x 48.8 cm for good quality, 23 x 15.4 inches or 58.4 x 39 cm for very good quality, and 19.2 x 12.8 inches or 48.7 x 32.5 cm for excellent quality prints.
The Canon PowerShot V1 has a native sensitivity range from ISO 100 to ISO 32000, which can be extended to ISO 100-51200. The corresponding ISO settings for the Hasselblad X2D 100C are ISO 64 to ISO 25600 (no boost).

Many modern cameras are not only capable of taking still images, but also of capturing video footage. The V1 indeed provides movie recording capabilities, while the X2D 100C does not. The highest resolution format that the V1 can use is 4K/60p.

One feature that is present on the X2D 100C, but is missing on the V1 is a top-level LCD. While being, of course, smaller than the rear screen, the control panel conveys some of the essential shooting information and can be convenient for quick and easy settings verification.
The V1 has an articulated LCD that can be turned to be front-facing. This characteristic will be appreciated by vloggers and photographers who are interested in snapping selfies. In contrast, the X2D 100C does not have a selfie-screen.The reported shutter speed information refers to the use of the mechanical shutter.
