Accessibility Statement
At peterwalkenhorst.com, we try to make our content easily available for everyone, including for people with disabilities.
We thereby follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 published by the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium. Our aim is to be compliant at Level AA.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented a range of features to make our content perceivable, operable, understandable and robust, including:
- All images are supplemented with alternative ("alt") text to assist visitors who are using screen readers.
- High color contrast between text and background helps readability.
- Headings are used to structure webpages in a logical manner.
- Consistent navigation is implemented across webpages.
- Input fields on forms have appropriate labels attached.
- Pages can be zoomed to 200% without loosing text content or functionality.
- Pages display at 320px width without a horizontal scrollbar.
- Content adapts to different mobile or desktop screen sizes.
We regularly evaluate and monitor the usability of our webpages. We do this using designated browser tools, such as Google Lighthouse or WAVE by WebAIM, and will continue to do so.
Remaining Issues
Some issues remain despite our efforts to meet the WCAG standard. These are notably related to third-party embeds:
- Some graphical content, such as Google maps, has limited accessibility.
- Some media resources, such as embedded YouTube videos, may not have full audio descriptions.
